Vocation Resources

Historically, Religious Sisters always accompanied young women in vocational discernment.

As the Sisters’ presence diminished, the concern for women’s vocations often slipped through the cracks.

There are several resources available to help fill the gap.

Bethany Brunch

Bethany Brunches exist as an opportunity for all young adult women to develop a deep heart of prayer through the witness of consecrated women. They are hosted at the Bethany House in Milwaukee, WI and can be replicated wherever you are.

Videos

There are video resources available for women in discernment, as well as for the Vocation Directors supporting them. See “Videos” for more information.

Retreats

Fiat Ministries partners with local vocations offices and other engaged groups to gather young adult women for a weekend discernment retreat with religious women from multiple communities.

Small Group

The Diocese of Tulsa has produced a self-guided six-week discernment group for women who wish to address the initial questions of vocational discernment. The diocese makes these available upon request. Please contact Fr. Mike Pratt for information or to request a copy. frmpratt3@gmail.com

Books

Mother Clare Matthiass has walked with women in discernment over many years and has written two books- Discerning Religious Life and a children’s book called The Unsolvable Problem.

Discerning Religious Life addresses all the discernment fundamentals, and The Unsolvable Problem helps parents and teachers begin the conversation at a young age.

For Parents

Parents of those in vocational discernment often encounter dozens of questions and concerns. Parents of Vocations helps ensure that parents can engage these challenges together.
